A few short pieces I’ve posted elsewhere of late:
I’m experimenting with posting my less “HELLO I AM CATHOLIC” content over on Medium:
Motherhood and the Dark and Stormy Night – on how Madeline L’Engle’s portrayal of the protagonist’s mother in A Wrinkle in Time stuck with me as a possible version of what I sought from my own vocation
I Had a Problem Just Like That – Basically, a lot of photos of a dry-erase board with mathematical brainteasers, ultimately circling around to how this could provide greater insight into the nature of empathy.
At Amazing Catechists: Lent Is Not a Self-Improvement Project. I happened upon a video post by Bob Rice about the communal nature of fasting and it clarified my thinking about the purpose of our Lenten sacrifices. Of course, my “most of y’all are doing Lent wrong, okay” hot take is probably based primarily in my abject failure to consistently carry out my own chosen penances.
And I am now on Instagram, which appears to be where all blogs live now. That makes me sad and nostalgic for the days of hanging out in one another’s comment boxes instead of on a platform, but it’s been a little fun on occasion and nice to reconnect with people.
Thanks for reading!
