Public Service Announcement for all you homeschoolers, Catholic parents, Catholic homeschoolers, and people who enjoy listening to smart people: the remarkable Laura Berquist is coming to Houston!
Berquist is the author of Designing Your Own Classical Curriculum, a thorough overview of how to build a curriculum for your children based on the principles of classical education. Although our family is more towards the unschooling end of the spectrum, Berquist’s work has been invaluable in helping me understand what skills and concepts my children are capable of. She also compiled a selection of poetry and prose for memory work and dictation, Harp and the Laurel Wreath, which is a staple in many classrooms.
Berquist will be in Houston to train parents and staff affiliated with Regina Caeli Academy, a hybrid homeschool for Houston families using the Mother of Divine Grace curriculum. She founded Mother of Divine Grace as a distance homeschooling program for parents interested in classical, college preparatory education for their children, and it has expanded to include almost 4,000 students. The details of her appearance are as follows:
Sunday, July 29th from 7 ~ 9 P.M.
St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church, Christus Center
7810 Cypresswood Drive
Spring, Texas 77379
This evening is sponsored by Regina Caeli Academy, a hybrid homeschool resource center offering education in the Catholic Tradition. RCA is faithful to the Magisterium and uses the Mother of Divine Grace curriculum while “training the mind to form the soul.” Starting in the fall of 2012, RCA will offer classes on Mondays and Thursdays for grades PK – 12 using the facilities at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Spring. A donation of $10 per person is suggested to help RCA meet its financial goal.

I’ll be there, and I hope to see you, too! Won’t you help spread the word by passing this along to family and friends in the Houston area?
I’ve reviewed Mother of Divine Grace for Tiber River previously if you’d like to learn more about this curriculum. Regina Caeli Academy is a terrific opportunity if you’re looking for a hybrid homeschool program and I encourage you to check it out!
