Houston Catholic New Media Meetup – Thursday, February 9

Hey there, Internet friends! All you Catholic blogger types and new media fans are invited to a Houston-area Catholic New Media Meetup!

Date: Thursday, February 9

Time: 7:00-9:00ish

Place: Freebirds World Burrito, 3745 Greenbriar Street, Houston, TX

We’ll have dinner and enjoy getting to see one another in person instead of behind a Twitter profile! I promise not to impose icebreakers upon anyone. It will be fun – come join us! RSVP in the comments so I can get an idea of how many people to expect, and let me know if you have any questions! Here’s the original post with a survey about which days/times are generally best for future get-togethers.

Please share this post with anyone who might be interested in joining us!

Oh thank you for no icebreakers!

Greenbriar is squirrelly in this part of town because it’s switching from southbound only south of 59 to north/south north of 59. Freebirds is still easy to get to, but needs some directions.
Take the Greenbriar/Shepherd exit, and turn north on Shepherd. Get in the left hand lane of Shepherd – Shepherd is northbound only at this point. This left lane ends at a forced left turn/u turn in a few short blocks, and you’ll see the southbound lanes of Shepherd veering off to your left. Make a u turn here and immediately get into the right lane to turn into the Freebirds parking lot.

Whatever you do, don’t keep going north on Shepherd. There are no left turns at most lights on Shepherd.

Sounds like a lot of fun! Do you know if Freebirds has internet access/wifi? I’d love to come but I host a Twitterchat on Thursday at 9pm for Houston Bloggers (#houstonbloggers, #txbloggers.)

Lisa, that’s a great question – I will call and find out. I am going to assume the answer is “yes,” based on the fact that they have a cool name. Highly scientific.

And sure, spread the word to the Houston bloggers’ group – thanks!

They do have free wifi. I think they also offer battery and cell phone recycling bins. Just in case, like me, you have a cup full of dead batteries you keep meaning to recycle.

Me again. I run a group for Houston bloggers, would you like me to put something in our newsletter? I know a couple of my bloggers who are Catholic, and there are probably more that I just don’t know off hand are Catholic.
